Acharya Kanad’s Notion Of Parmanu

We all know that Dalton’s atomic theory was first proposed in 1803, but did you know there was an Indian scientist who had a similar concept of atoms before him? Acharya Kanad’s notion of Parmanu was proposed before Dalton’s theory. The Vaiseṣika Sutra (Vaiseshika sutra), a Vedic text, describes the Parman as the smallest particle of an element that cannot segregate.
