How Was Time Calculated In The Vedic Period?

The Vedic period is a time in history that lasted from around 1500 BCE to 500 BCE. It is known as the “Hindu Golden Age,” and it is characterized by a strong culture of religious and social rituals.

The Vedic people relied on the length of the day, night, year and seasons to tell time. The smallest unit of measurement was Parmanu (a grain of rice), which was used for measuring seconds. One truti was equal to 8 Parmanus, and one nimesha prana was equal to 30 truti (which means one hour). Explore more with us on 4veds.com.
