Airavata is associated with Indra, the god of weather and rain. The word Airavata is derived from the Sanskrit “Air” meaning wind and the word “avatar” means ‘having the color of’ in the sense of ‘white’. It is a long-lived species and is worshipped as the king of all elephants. Airavata is described as a white elephant in Hindu scriptures, he is believed to be the strongest elephant in history.
